Winemaking

Pinot Noir clone 115 is hand harvested, destemmed to small batches, and cold soaked for 5-7 days before fermentation by indigenous yeasts. The total time on skins is 16 to 21 days. After gentle pressing, the wine completes malolactic fermentation and is aged 13 months in French oak barrels (25% new).

Tasting Notes

Complex and beguiling bouquet of red berry fruits, toasty oak, and dried herbs. The palate is tense, youthful and poised with flavours of fresh strawberry, currants, and cherry.

Drink now through 2025.

Reviews

 -  Lots of floral and red fruit aromas and flavours with decanting.  Thicker rounder mouthfeel as well.
* Karl Klip - My Wine Pal

 93 pts ♦ The wine begins with aromas of red berries and oak. Silky in texture, the wine has flavours of strawberry, raspberry and cherry.
* John Schreiner on Wine

 89 pts ♦ Rich spicy, toasty notes with a whiff of reduction that disappears with time in the glass is imbued with cherry, raspberry, forest berry and intense, dried thyme. ... A lovely new addition to the Spearhead, eccentric, single vineyard pinots.
* Treve Ring & Anthony Gismondi on Wine
