2019 Chardonnay Clone 95

Source
Clone 95 from Duncan Vineyard on the Naramata Bench.
Winemaking
The grapes are hand harvested and whole bunch pressed, then fermented and aged in French oak barrels for 10 months, using a combination of standard barrels and puncheons. 25% goes into new oak & partial malolactic fermentation occurs.
Tasting Notes
Premium Chardonnay made from prized blocks of low yielding clone 95, a superior clone originating from the Côte d’Or, France. You will find a pronounced nose with pineapple, white grapefruit, and baked apple. More citrus to follow on the palate accompanied by flavors of honeycomb, hazelnut, and biscotti. The finish is long with a rich buttery mouthfeel.
Enjoy now or cellar for 3 to 5 years.

Reviews
88. Produced with fruit sourced from a vineyard on the Naramata Bench planted exclusively with the Burgundian, Clone 95, similar to its portfolio cousin, the Saddle Block Chardonnay. This Naramata version is full and generous with both melon and orchard fruit throughout. Balance is attained through the existence of fresh and tangy citrus fruit present on the expressive nose and refreshing palate. Oak treatment is a bit heavy with with lingering wood bitters on the lime rind'n'spice-infused finish. Drink 2021-2024. ~ Liam Carrier - IconWines
92. This is from the Duncan Vnyd in Naramata, and when tasted beside the Clone 95 from Spearhead's Saddleback Vineyard in southeast Kelowa, this shows its slightly warmer origin with some tropical fruit and softer, richer texture with lower acid. The nose is quite generous with peach-pineapple, hazelnut, caramel and spice. It is smooth, textured and refined at the same time. Excellent focus and length. Tasted Sept 2021. ~ David Lawrason - Wine Align
90. Deeper colour, shifting to gold. Slightly tinned fruit, pear, tangerines, creamy oak. Pulls it together well enough in the end. Tasted blind at the National Wine Awards of Canada October 2021. ~ John Szabo, MS - Wine Align
